SO… What is this website all about then?
By Dawn Iverson | June 1st, 2010 | Category: FEATURE, PROJECT, RECENT POSTS, WEBSITE | No Comments »After the Barriers to Volunteering event on the 6th May, we thought it would be a good idea to explain the purpose of this website and what we hope it will offer.
Toolkit
The toolkit will be accessed from the top of this page in the menu. There will be ‘drop down’ options for you to choose the subject you wish to find information on, and the type of information you are looking for.
The topics for the toolkit will be as follows:
-
Learning Disabilities
Mental Health
Visual Impairment
Ex Offenders
Youth Volunteering
Physical Disabilities
Hearing Impairment
Each topic will have the following pages:
-
About the topic
News and Research on the topic
Resources on the topic
Links to other relevant websites
Through this structure, we hope to be able to offer a ‘one stop shop’ for information you may need to set up a supported volunteering project, or simply to offer volunteer placements to a wider range of people.
Forum
If the toolkit does not cover your needs, we will also be opening a Forum on this website very soon. This is a place for professionals and interested parties to discuss the issues around supported volunteering and to share best practice. The Forum will also be linked to the front page of the website. Topics and stories posted on the front page can be discussed in the forum, and issues from the Forum can be posted onto the front page of the website for others to read.
Front Page
We will also continue to update the front page of this website with links to interesting stories and updates to the website. If we should come across funding ideas, case studies or requests for information, we will also include these in the front page of the website.
If you can think of anything else you think SHOULD be on the website, then please do get in touch with us at the Volunteer Centre, Slough. (please see the ‘contact us’ link at the very bottom of this page)
This website is here for YOU. If you would like to contribute articles or information to the website, please also get in touch!
